CHEM 281: Introduction to Chemical Literature

Using SciFinder

This guide is designed to help students -- 

  • Conduct a variety of searches using library databases and internet resources

  • Trace the original primary, peer-reviewed sources used in a popular science article (secondary source) 

  • Create and use a SciFinder (ChemAbstracts) account to conduct a reference searches on your topic and/or an author

  • Export citations from a database search to a reference management system, which can be used to cite references in American Chemical Society (ACS) style.

  • Obtain articles through full-text access or interlibrary loan.
