Tips for Finding Books

When you search for books in Primo, you might want to try:

  1. Order the results by PUBLISH DATE DESCENDING, to get the newest stuff listed first
  2. Search for "environmental policy" as a SUBJECT or SUBJECT HEADING SEARCH (don't include the quotation marks) instead of KEYWORD ANYWHERE

Finding Books not in Andruss Library

1) Search the website for WorldCAT, a database that lists books found in libraries all over the world.  When you find something you like, look for the libraries listed under "Find a copy in the library."  This tells you what libraries own the book.  If the books is owned by Andruss Library, Bloomsburg University will be listed here.  You can then find the book in our library.  If Bloomsburg University is not listed, we can get the book for you through Interlibrary Loan.

2) Put in an Interlibrary Loan request for the book.  Visit this page for instructions on how to do that.

Finding conference abstracts & proceedings

Quite often, you will find references to sources which are not journal articles or books. In particular, you may find references to conference or meeting abstracts. In this case, a scientist has presented his or her research at a conference or meeting and instead of publishing a journal article, the scientist has published a brief abstract summarizing his or her results in a professional society publication called a 'proceedings.' Sometimes these conference proceedings may be available online for free and sometimes they are only available in print. The following links will help you obtain them.
