Media Law: Court Cases

Searching LexisNexis for Court Cases

"A well asked question is half answered."

Now that we have identified at least one current US Supreme Court case, we may now learn more about the case.

Below is the search screen for LexisNexis Legal Research.  Notice that "Federal and State Cases" is selected in the left margin (green arrow).

We may now enter the names of the parties involved in our case of choice, and specify the "Party Names" field (blue arrow).  By leaving the search settings at "Everywhere," the database will then retrieve records with our search terms anywhere in the record.  We may also specify a date range, but must certainly specify a Jurisdiction (red arrow).
