Getting full text through interlibrary loan

If the materials you want are not available in Andruss Library collections, then request them for free through interlibrary loan, as a member of the BU community*. Articles are usually delivered within 24 hours electronically and books within 1-2 weeks, so plan accordingly. Because interlibrary loan agreements do not allow the Library to request materials it already owns, check first before submitting (or ask for help) to make sure the library doesn't already have it.

All BU students, staff, and faculty have interlibrary loan accounts. The first time you use it, you'll enter some additional information. Your user name is your full BU email address (with @huskies.bloomu.edu for students) and your regular HuskyID password. You may login and complete your account here: https://illiad.bloomu.edu/

The easiest way to determine if the library has an item is to use the Full Text Finder links in the library databases (and Google Scholar -- view this FAQ to see how) . If the library doesn't have the item, then use the link to submit an interlibrary loan request, which automatically completes the form for you. Or go to the Interlibrary Loan Request Form, select the type of material you need, and fill in as much information as you have.

For questions (such as how long your request will take, how long you can keep the material), visit the Interlibrary Loans. For questions on to use interlibrary loan, Ask Us!
