You Spoke: Study Rooms

by Katie Yelinek on 2022-04-05T13:41:38-04:00 | Comments

Welcome to the fourth in a series of posts about the LibQual survey results.  Today we're talking about the Library’s study rooms.

You had a lot to say about the study rooms!  Some of you love the new reservation system.  Some of you hate it. Some of you think the rooms work just fine, others think they get too noisy.  Many of you want more study rooms.

First off, we love that are making use of the rooms!  That’s what they’re here for.

That said, we understand there can be frustrations with spaces that are so heavily used.  We’ve experimented over the years with how to make our study room system work.  Many years ago, the study rooms could not be reserved and were on a first-come, first-serve basis only.  Due to student request, we moved to a reservation system.  At first, one a few rooms could be reserved.  During COVID we switched to the current system where all rooms can be reserved.  It was a soft roll-out during COVID because of the limited number of students on campus.  This is the first year it’s in place with all students here.

Because the system is new, remember to exercise patience with classmates who might be learning the system.  That said, if you are experiencing trouble with folks who refuse to give up a room that you reserved, or if a group is being loud, please contact us through chat or come to the Circulation Desk.  We can confirm your reservation or remind the group to use their inside voices.

If you have questions about the LibQual results, please contact Katie Yelinek.
