The first prize winners in the decorating contest were the residents of the second floor, south wing. Their theme was “Noel Square,” where they created an elaborately detailed Christmas version of the downtown Bloomsburg business district.

The sign at left reads “Welcome to Noel Square, population: 57, Founded: Dec. 4, 1871, Mayor: Diane Walworth (seen at left), vice Mayor: Emma Morgan (at right), Keep Noel Square Beautiful, Walk with Care.” Town Hall is in the background.

Waiting by the Noel Square mailbox are Marilyn Santorsa and Gail Swoyer.

Sue Greef and Sandy Asko are chatting in front of a room decorated as a bright red tavern well known to college students then and now.

Another area of Noel Square, with Debbi Graci and Diane Walworth, featured a bake shop behind them and across the hall a drug store and barber shop.
