Economics Research

This guide is designed to search as a launching point for general research in Economics, and as an aid in topic selection for Economics-related research

LexisNexis

Searching LexisNexis

The LexisNexis databases are vastly different from other databases in that they do not have a subject arrangement. Instead, the databases search for your keywords throughout the full texts of the articles.  There are, however, ways to manipulate your keywords to get better results. Note the truncation symbol for Lexis/Nexis is an exclamation point (!).

W/s

This search feature commands the database to list articles with the two adjoined terms to appear in the same sentence.

Example: "foreign exchange swap" w/s "south korea"

Atlx

Commands the database to list articles with text containing at least x number of appearances of the parenthesized word or phrase.

                        Example: atl3(export)

This will list articles containing the term “export” at least three times.
