This guide is designed to serve as a resource for GRE preparation programs, resources, etc. available for Bloomsburg University students.

What is the New GRE Format?

The ETS adopted a new format for the GRE in August 2011.  You may view a brief video from ETS describing the revisions.

Allow test-taker to answer questions in any order!


Review button
Shows all questions and indicates which were seen, answered, “marked”


Mark button
Allows question to be tagged on the Review Screen

New GRE Scores

  • Earn points for correct responses only
  • Speed does not count
  • Do not lose points for incorrect responses (Feel free to guess!)
  • Questions are adaptive by section:
    • 1st Verbal/Quantitative section: Wide range of difficulty
    • 2nd Verbal/Quantitative section: Difficulty depends on scores during 1st section
