Fundamental concepts and vocabulary used in library and information research.

Reference Collection

The Reference Collection contains many high quality reference sources that provide a time-saving overview or background on a topic. You can find many answers to your research questions in both print and online reference sources, which include:

  • encyclopedias
  • dictionaries
  • almanacs
  • directories
  • bibliographies
  • statistical sources
  • atlases

The Reference Collection (print) on the 2nd floor has hundreds of reference books on virtually every topic taught at BU. The Library also has a large collection of electronic reference books. Ask at the Circ Desk for research assistance. The on-call librarian will come to help you find a suitable source.
